Glaze before #20 or MPPP

I have been thinking of putting a glaze on before the #20 or MPPP just to darken the paint a little before sealing. I will be putting this on with a PC and removing by hand with a micro-fiber.

I own some #7 and while it looks good it is kind of a pain to remove.

I read somewhere that #5 is a glaze that is the same as #81 but was made for humid conditons to make for easier removal. Is this the case or is #81 still the better choice? Or should I just stick to my #7?

Yes, Meguiar's #5 New Car Glaze is designed for easier removal in humid conditions. However, I also have found that it leaves a bit of dust after removal. My first choice for clear coat (BC/CC) paint is still #81 Hand Polish and for single stage paints, #7 Show Car Glaze. However, you can use #7 on BC/CC as well; it is just a little more difficult to remove compared to #81.

#7 was designed for single stage paint not clear coat and base coat........it still works great but can be alittle difficult to remove. #81 is designed with clear coats in mind as is much easier to remove. I haven't used #5, but I believe it was designed to be used at body shops as you can use it on paint that hasn't cured, but don't qoute me on the #5

So what your saying is 2hotford is that I wont see much difference between the #81 and #7 other than the ease of removal?

If this is the case I will just use up my #7 before getting the 81

#7 doesn't dry white and leave a white powder residue.

I like #7 and if used sparingly I have no problems with removal. You do have to be careful not to put it on too heavy or it can be tough to remove. I've been using it for 9-10 years. I love what it does to the gloss.

The #81 does not dry white either; it is just easier to remove than the #7 (I have never had problems with removal, but some people have). Otherwise, I can not see a perceptable difference between the #7 and the #81. So, of course use up the #7 and then choose.

The #5 on-the-other hand does dry and leaves a little white dust. In my area, humidity is not a problem so I use the the #7 or #81 depending on the type of paint.
