I thought I would spend some time on my door jambs. I couldn't believe how dirty they were. I spend so much time on the outside of my vehicles that I overlook other important items to be detailed.

I used the slide lock detail brush to get the loose dirt. Then I sprayed the jambs with Last Touch and wiped them down with a microfiber towel. It was looking OK, but I sprayed the entire jambs with Hyper Dressing to get a better shine.

I used Trim Detailer on the weather stipping applying it with a foam pad and to finish off the doors I used Quik Interior Detailer.

What a difference!!!

Looks very good, definately an over looked area for most people. A wipe up under the doors between the foam/rubber gaskets and the gaps there can find a lot of dirt as well.

Tsk, tsk, tsk. Mike, I can't believe you don't do this as part of your regular routine on the beautiful black 'Vette.

Shame on you sir, you don't deserve that car. Please PM me with your address so that I might stop by and pick it up from you. :D :D

Kidding, kidding........nice work!! I'm sure you and the car both feel much better now.:xyxthumbs

You're at the point where many detailers get. Things look so good that the only objections are the areas you haven't done.

This means you must have just moved another step up in your detailing work. Congratulations and that Corvette looks oh so nice! :xyxthumbs

Beautiful work! Now that everything is clean, you should spray a hint of white lithium at the joints. Keep them lubed up. Keep up with the cleaning and then make sure they're lubed. Its a constant cycle.

Very nice. Just reminded me that I have to do that to my truck. I bet they're pretty dirty too.

Damn I never knew door jambs can look that clean. I guess I gotta wait until I get my arsenal ready because I dont have any supplies yet.

Looks good, I usually clean my door jams a couple times a year. Seems I always end up with skinned up knuckles and fingers.

I have gotten into the habit of wiping the jambs and door edges down every time I wash the car. I also use NXT liquid on them each time I wax. I do need to get into the habit of using a dressing on the vinyl/rubber parts. Looks VERY nice!

Looks good! I find if you spend an extra 5 minutes wiping them out after every wash they stay really clean.

Yeah I wipe 'em down each time I wash too. I am a big supported of routine easy jobs as opposed to sporadic hard jobs.

I probably could do a better job dressing them each time. At least they're clean!

I agree, I clean mine every time I wash. I use an old mit (rung out a little) with my wash water and come back and wipe down with Last Touch and #40 for the weatherstripping.

Eric,

I have to respectfully disagree on the white lithium grease, that just ends up being more work and a mess. I'll admit that's what I used for a long time but really got tired of constantly fighting the mess it created and the messy look.

Try using 3M's 08897 Silicone Lubricant (DRY TYPE) you'll be pleasantly surprised. Clean and no mess to clean up or look at.

Here is what you want:

Hope that helps.

I agree TXShine. I used the white lithium a couple of times and I had white grease all over. That was the first & last time I used that spray on my door jambs. I'll have to try that 3M Silicone lubricant dry spray.

:iagree: Well put Rasky. I do that everytime I wash our cars. When drying the cars off I use a a different mf towel and wipe down all the jambs and under the doors all around the weather stripping. This keeps them looking like new.

Myself....on cars that haven't been done before I use APC @ 10-1 followed by Megs Speed Detailer, on my own car it's a quick spray and wipe with Speed Detailer everytime that does the trick :xyxthumbs

Bryan

PS it's the same for the gutters round the boot (trunk), bonnet (hood) and the roof!!

I try to remember each time I wash the car to wipe down the Jambs. 2 times a year I treat the gaskets and molding to All Season dressing, and do the paint with A-12 cleaner wax.
