PC on a 02 Accord coupe

I used my new PC on my g/f's 02 Accord coupe today. The car had a lot of swirls all over and the paint was somewhat dull, but that changed today!!!. I used #80 Speed Glaze, DC#2 Polish, and NXT wax to make it look like a different car! Here is a pic showing the right side of the hood complete while the left hand side was untouched. Notice how much deeper and darker the blue looks. My g/f & I were extremely impressed with the results.

gb, there is no comparing the two! The PC is much faster and it does a superior job (not to mention my arms don't loose their feeling midway into the job! :xyxthumbs

She had to feed me so I would do the car again :) Now that she saw how good it *could* look, I may be doing the waxing more often :coolgleam

It was really fun to see how Meguiar's products could help change the appearance of the car so drastically. I have always waxed my Ranger & Mustang on a regular basis, so when I do the 3 step process on them, the results aren't quite as noticable (there is always an improvement however).

Can you give me the details about applying DC #2?...What speed, pad, and did how much did you use to prime the pad with, and how did you work it in?

I used a 3 or 4 speed I believe with a W8006 polishing pad. I kept applying DC2 to the pad whenever there was no haze showing on the paint (is this the right way to do things everyone??-I'm a newbie with the PC). I then worked the PC back and forth in a somewhat straight, slight overlapping movement till one body panel was covered. After the one panel was dry, I used a MF towel to remove. Some of it was a little oily, but the NXT removed any haze. Any thoughts why the oily residue? Did I use to much or not break it down enough? Also, when I finish off this bottle of DC2, I'm looking for something to replace it-something from the Professional Mirror Glaze line probably. Any suggestions on a polish?

There is nothing wrong with DC2, I'm just looking for the very best polish Meguiars carries :db:

Nice work!

Since Speed Glaze breaks down into light polish as you work it, you can probably go straight to NXT but if you want more pop, get a quart of #81 Hand Polish. Similar look to #7 but a lot more user friendly.

That sounds right for a pure polish like Deep Crystal Polish.

The oily residue is normal, all Meguiar's polishes, both pure polishes and cleaner/polishes contain rich, conditioning and lubricating oils. These oils help to create deep dark reflections and brilliant high gloss.


Also, when I finish off this bottle of DC2, I'm looking for something to replace it-something from the Professional Mirror Glaze line probably. Any suggestions on a polish?

I would second Scottwax's suggestion. Pick up a bottle of the #81 Hand Polish. It is a lot more user friendly than the #7 Show Car Glaze and even though it is a hand applied polish, you can use your PC to apply it without any problems.
