Wednesday Open Garage Sign-up - May 10th

On Wednesday nights, starting at 5:00pm and going until around 10:00pm, Meguiar's hosts an Open Garage in which registered members of our Meguiar's Online Discussion Forum can sign-up to bring their car down and work on it.

There will be a Meguiar's Surface Care Expert on hand to help you choose the right products and use the correct techniques to accomplish your car care goals. You will also have access to Meguiar's complete arsenal of Consumer, Professional, Detailer and Marine lines of products.

To bring your car to Meguiar's Open Garage, you need to be a registered member (http://meguiarsonline.com/forums/register.php?s=) and then "Reply" to to this sign-up thread.


IMPORTANT NOTE:
You are only allowed to sign-up for yourself and immediate family members that are living in your home. Friends, family and other club members will need to sign-up for themselves.

I have a 4pm meeting Burbank - Irvine is FAR but I'm still planning to attend. Do you have a recommended Highway/Freeway from Burbank to Irvine?

How's the 5. Is that a Freeway or a local big road? It looks more direct than the 405. Someone please let me know!

Hi Mark,

You can come and go as you please. It's pretty informal in that it's really on a first-come, first-serve basis, that is if you get there and the garage bay is empty, you can pull your car in work on it.


We need everyone to be mindful that others want to work on their cars so once you bring your car into the garage it's important to get with the program and get busy so we can hopefully pull another car to work on inside also.

Older than the 405, it's not as wide some of the way but I don't think it has to handle as much volume as the 405 over the stretch you're looking at. It won't be "good" but I don't think it'll be worse. Going the other way, OC to the Valley on the 5 isn't too bad in the afternoon but you'd be going "with traffic".

Hopefully, somebody who commutes it regularly can chime in.

you should avoid the 5 fwy like a plague but in your case I
think you'll have to take the 5 fwy for a bit until you hit the

710 S-> 105 E/S -> 605 S -> 405 S. Or 5 S to 605 S to 405 S.

What are your thoughts on that?

Most all the freeways are terrible in the afternoon. From Burbank, you can try these:

5 South -> 60 East -> 605 South ->405 South

(What I usually take) 5 South -> 60 East -> 57 South -> 91 East -> 55 South, exit Macarthur

(the long way around, but it can be quick) 5 South -> 134/210 East -> 57 South -> 91 East -> 55 South, exit Macarthur

You can substitute the 10 for the 60, but I tend to find the 60 to be faster. Likewise, the 710 is sometimes faster than the 605.

The government of California and the City of Irvine will not allow you wash your car in the city of Irvine unless you have a water and contaminant recovery system in place.

So you cannot wash your car here at Meguiar's.
