I have a few scratches on my hood, some long and noticeable (mostly to me, very irritating).
I'm planning to use Scratch-x, but if it doesn't give me the results I want, I may consider wet sanding, if economical.
Can anyone give me a ballpark figure...what is the typical cost at a body shop to have wet sanding done?

hi nighthawkblack, if the scratch can catch your finger nail then scratchX won't do that well of a job, i recommend you do the work yourself.go to a junk yard or find a body panel and learn to wet sand. it's not really that hard, just take your time and always check your work every few seconds.start off by getting some touch up paint use several light coats letting each coat dry before the next then when it's built up just a little higher then original paint or even with, then start using 2000 grit sand paper, soak it a few minutes in some water with a little m00 wash soap because of it's good lubication, then you could also use some painters tape to tape off around the scratch so your not sanding where you don't need to.again take your time and keep inspecting your work.when you've got it down about even and not looking to much like touch up paint start buffing with a rotary and some compound or some m85 or m84 also you could use a pc with the red w7006 pad and the m85 or m84 then m80 and some wax or ? hope i've helped you,it's always better to do a job your self ...DANIELScottwax1

I know this is an old post, but for anyone who may be looking at this down the road, #84 and #85 are intended for use with a rotary and not a PC. You can use #84 with a wool pad or a W7000 or W7006 pad but #85 is intended to be used with the wool pad only.
Sorry to post this a month an a half later, but this site is a great reference for a lot of people including myself, so I like to make sure we are providing 100% correct info.
