Sign-up for the Ford/Chevy Extreme Makeover! - August 21st, 2008

Both cars have single stage paint and we think both cars still have their original paint. If you've never worked on a single stage paint job before here's to opportunities to see what it's like. Both cars are going to need their paint cleaned and polished to perfection and the Mustang will need some help from M39 and M40

This is the hood of the Mustang followed by a cropped out section that's full size, as you can see it's going to need some Meguiar's TLC

Full size section cropped out of the above

Plenty of black vinyl to clean, condition and protect with the M39/M40 Twins...

And the Chevy is going to need some passion and persperation too!

On Thursday nights, starting at 5:30pm and going until around 10:00pm, Meguiar's will host an Open Garage in which registered members of our Meguiar's Online Discussion Forum can sign-up to try out Meguiar's complete arsenal of products and tools with experienced and trained experts on hand to help you as well as show you the proper techniques for getting show car results!

The goal of these events is to give people a chance to,

Try out products they may have never used or even known about.
Learn the correct technique for applying and removing specific products or using different tools.
These classes are not for bringing your car down to do a complete detail as in machine polishing and waxing the entire car. We will show you the products and techniques using a fender or the hood and letting you learn and practice on this one section but after that you will need to finish the rest of the car at your garage. By doing this more people can get their car into the garage and learn in the limited amount of time that we have and that's what these events are about, people learning how to detail their car, not one or two people using the garage from 5:00pm to 10:00pm to detail their entire car.

To bring your car to Thursday Night "Open Garage", you need to be a registered (http://meguiarsonline.com/forums/register.php?s=)member (http://meguiarsonline.com/forums/register.php?s=) and then "Reply" to to this sign-up thread.

IMPORTANT NOTE:
You are only allowed to sign-up for yourself and immediate family members that are living in your home. Friends, family and other club members will need to sign-up for themselves.

Note: Please do not show up before 5:00pm as we have to remember there are a lot of people still working and we cannot disrupt them and their duties plus the parking lot is full until regular employees begin to leave at 5:00pm

Hi Joe,

All you have to do is check the list on the fist page of any sign-up thread to see if the class is full, in this case it's not and we've placed your name on the list.

Here's the link to the first page of this thread...

http://meguiarsonline.com/forums/showthread.php?t=21952

And here's this...

If you're unsure as to how to navigate between pages in a thread basically you want to look for the little numbers at the top and bottom of each thread and these numbers represent the pages of the thread. Here's a picture,

I want to sign up for the class on the 21st of August and I also have a question. Is this class ONLY for Fords and Chevys or can we bring any make and model car? I'm looking to learn how to remove hood scratches, swirls, etc. since they don't seem to go away. Thanks...

the focus is going to be on the two cars that we are working on for the night. but we can make some time to work on other projects if needed we got people that love to help out. we're all car crazy. i guarantee you will learn tons. come on down.

Sweet, in that case I'm definitely there! I rather learn on another car instead of my own anyways, lol.

When we have an extreme makeover night, mos of the attention goes to the subject car or cars

That said we still have plenty of staff and time to show you what you're interested in learning for your own car.

See you Thursday...

I'll be there!

If possible there are two quick things I'd like to get some expert opinion on regarding my car. One is I would like a couple of expert eyeballs (Mike & Mike?) to look at my car and see if they can see any paint defects that I need to take care of. Secondly, my car has a lots and lots of curves and I'd like to get some opinions on how much help and how effective a PC would be on it compared to how much hand work would still have to be done.

Sure will.

We're working on two extreme makeovers so there's lots to make shiny, from your "Introduction" post you've let us know you don't want to make things shiny so we'll do our best to help you with that goal...

Try to bring one of your cars versus your motorcycle...

Thought we would have a larger turn-out with people wanting to be a part of the Transformation Team for the two classic cars coming to Meguiar's for an extreme-makeover?

When we have an extreme makeover in the house Mike Phillips is usually really busy with that project (in this case, two of them) but I'll have the time to walk you through the process and help you with those curvy areas on the car.
