You have two options here. The hard part, if I had to guess, would be finding the Print Screen button on your keyboard. It is usually abbreviated "Prt Scr" and is usually above the Insert, Home, and Page Up Keys and has "Sys Rq" underneath it. Once you find that, you are ready to go.

The first option is taking a screenshot of your entire display. This will show any windows that are open, active or not, and your entire taskbar.
To do this, hold down the "Ctrl" button and hit the "Prt Scr" button

The second option is taking a screenshot of your active window. No matter what you have open, it will only capture what is active. This is indicated by the dark title bar at the top of the screen. If you look at the above picture, Solitare is the active window with the dark, blue colored title bar, while Calculator and Firefox are inactive with the faded, gray title bars. So, to take a screenshot of only the active window (no other programs and no taskbar), hold down the "Alt" button and hit the "Prt Scr" button.

Here, the same programs are open, but I selected this as the active window/program, so this is what was captured.

Once you capture the screen, you can open up any photo-editing software, create a new document, and you should be able to paste it. For write ups like this, I simply open Paint, paste, and save.

All done!

Great write up Tyler!

There is another way to "screenshot" your desktop or what ever you are viewing, only in Windows Vista, the Tool is called Snipping Tool, if you have Vista give it a try, it's pretty cool :)

For those who are Mac users you can press Apple Key (Command) Shift 3 This will take a screen shot of your monitor (or both if you are using dual monitors) and save the screenshots as jpeg's on your desktop.

Also, on Macs...

If you press the command+shift+4 you can select the area on the screen that you would like to capture, and then after that if you press the spacebar you can select individual windows and it will capture just that window, cropped and everything.
