The Polishing pad is less aggressive then the cutting pad. Usually, the cutting pad would be used with a rotary buffer. I've heard great things about the new style Meguiar's cutting pad but I haven't tried it yet. I use my Polishing pad(W8006) for everything from #80 to D151 ands even M105. It leaves a real nice finish and depending what product your using and the paint your working on, it can leave a LSP finish. With a cutting pad, you would have to follow up with at least Polishing pad to remove and hazing.

Meguiar's doesn't recommend using our W-7006 Foam Cutting Pad with any DA Polisher as the foam recipe is so aggressive it will remove defects but in some cases leave hazing or micro-marring behind.

For what it's worth, unless I need a rotary buffer I can remove most swirls and scratches on daily drivers with M80 and our W-8006 foam polishing pad.

Anytime anyone has any problems they're usually making one of the common mistakes.

If you own a show car or a garage queen and you're trying to remove every single below surface defect then you really need a rotary buffer and often times the skills and abilities to wet-sand.
