My neighbor who has a heart condition has a 9 year old GMC that has never been waxed. I did his Jimmy as a nice gesture (and to try some techniques acquired here). The truck has rust on the bottom (stayed away from that area) and the paint was oxidized terribly. Also, the paint has cracks and checks which would be impossible to eliminate.

1. Quick wash and air dry.
2. DACP with 8006 pad. I also tried the purple pad (can't remember the Meg's number) that I have been using as a backing pad for the MF bonnets. Quite frankly, the 8006 pad out performed the purple pad. I literally wore out an 8006 pad! Probably less than 1/2 thickness when I finished.
3. ColorX...what a great product! First time I've used it and am impressed! Used a 9006 pad to apply and buffed with an mf towel.

I might throw a coat of NXT Tech on it before winter.

The owner was shocked at the results.

Super Job!

And that was a lovely gesture to help your neighbor!

Keep up the great work and humanity! It's nice to see people still care enough to help others!

WOW!!! That's a really huge change and what you did was really nice gesture! So, do you think it was ColorX that restored the gloss and shine of the paint?

The ColorX was very effective (along with the DACP..which never ceases to amaze me with results) in bring back the color. There is still some paint cracking and checking on the hood that I can't fix. It is probably too far gone (see pic) but the overall appearance stunned the neighbor compared to the condition it was in.

He's a great neighbor and used to race cars in the mid-60's... Ford GT40 (has some great pics in his den). Heck, it's a labor of love for me to do the GMC and I learned some valuable lessons on ColorX.

This pic shows the power of DACP in restoring oxidized paint to a nice luster. I haven't applied the ColorX yet but the difference is amazing.

In the before pictures I thought the color was chalk board black. Got chalk?

Looks great Totoland. Nice gesture for your neighbor. I have a retired couple that lives next me. He is a great guy. We try and see who can mow our yards first each week and generally I will mow his front or he will mow mine. :bounce

Hi Totoland Mach,

Stellar example of a good neighbor and awesome example of the dramatic differences in before and after that can be achieved with the right products in this shot,

Thanks Mike: I'll take some update pics that you might be interested in. After 5+ months of use (never garaged), the ColorX is still glossy and offers protection.

I'm on the road for the next 9 days, but will send you some pics of what ColorX looks like after almost 6 months.

Ive used Color X on my sons Nissan Sentra almost 3 months ago , and although it has lost a lot of slickness it still beads when it rains and still has a great shine . IMO Color X is one of the best one steps and is better than some 2 steps.

what an amazing transformation. I'm sure all the hard work was worth it. I'm not sure how colour x works exactly but im interested enough to have a look into it. Great work

I decided on the ColorX because the Jimmy paint was so badly oxidized and it has no clear coat. I also wanted to see how it weathers because I had not used it anywhere prior to this. After 5 plus months of outdoor parking and use..it's a very durable product. I'm gonna shoot some "5 months later pics" when I get off this hectic travel schedule (by then it will be 6 months later pics LOL)

You know after looking at the pics again, it appears to be a charcoal gray color and after it appears to be black. I know this may only be due to the shine and the sun but what a dramatic difference! Kudos again. I may have to try this on my dad's neglected company car once I get my DAP and essentials kit.

OrangeRcode: the "gray" was dulling of the finish due to many years of zero protection and neglect. The owner (as well as myself) was stunned by the results of DACP + ColorX.
