Is it ok to go over the factory tape pinstripes with the Porter Cable & DACP or #9?
Or should they be taped off or avoided completely?

I try to avoid mine, but have accidentally hit them once or twice (OK, so actually quite a few times). No damage done. I just wouldn't make it a habit of buffing on top of them for any length of time. Of course, this could vary depending on the type of pinstripe tape it is. Mine is the original Nissan from 1997.

Be careful around the tape pinstripes when using any machine. I removed a small piece of tape pinstripes using a PC. It is not the liquid abrasive which you need to be concerned with, but rather the pad and motion of the machine.
My advice: Tape off the tape pinstripes with narrow painter's tape.

I accidentally removed a small piece of pinstriping and now I tape all pinstripes. Lesson learned.
