Why Meguiras DA Polisher is almost $100 more the Porter cable ?
Does it come with more accessories than the PC ?
I'm not trying to be smart or anything like that, just want to know.
Thanks

You do get the lifetime warranty and the Meguiars backing plate and a polishing pad.... my guess it the lifetime warranty is the main thing you are paying for.

sometime you have to buy a different counter weight that you don't need to with the megs. also the backing plate and pad would cost around $30 give or take with shipping (I had to order mine.)

I only found like a $30 price difference between the Porte Cable and the Meguiar's one. Of couse this was looking for the best possible deal I could get. The PC ones were ~$130 online plus shipping, I got a Meguiar's D100 polisher for $160 plus tax. This was the D100 not the D100A which has the backing plate and pad, so by the time I bought the polisher, backing plate, set of pads and a bottle of dacp I was in just under $230 with tax. Still, the lifetime warranty is nice to have. I've been told they send you a brand new one if yours dies. Don't quote me on this, but maybe someone can confirm.

I heard Mike say in a previous post, that the Meguiar's PC comes with a "No questions asked" warranty.
I bought mine back in '99...It came with the Concours Collection for just $250.00!...That same (They added a few items) collection sells for $350.00 now.

I just checked and your're right, it is the 7335 model.
What's the difference between it and the 7224? (I think that is right number)

I got mine back in 99 too. :D Best kit I ever purchased.
Maybe Mike knows for sure but I think the 7335 was born as a sander while the 7424 was born to polish. I believe back when Meg first put the G100 kits together there was no model 7424. As you can see from the specs there is little difference. The 7424 has ball and roller bearings while the 7335 only has ball bearings but that should not have any meaning as to their longevity. They are guaranteed for life.

Thanks for posting the specs...That cleared up the difference in the two.
Have you ever lubed yours like the instructions say?

Have you ever lubed yours like the instructions say?
My manual states "To add lubricant it is necessary to dismantle the tool. This operation should always be handled by the nearest Porter-Cable authorized service center."
You have newer instructions or other tips on lubing it?
I drop mine off at a friends who works at a hardware store that is a PC authorized service center. I usually do this in the fall. They lube it for me for free. I usually bring him a six pack of Grolish when I pick it up.
I also was mistaken on the year I purchased my PC. Turns out I bought it on 3/15/1995 as part of a Concours Collection.

My booklet says the same thing...Porter Cable told me it was not too hard to lube , but I have yet to try to myself...I guess I need to see about it soon.

Hi all,
Looks like this was all sorted out, thanks Rusty Bumper for picking up yoke....
To answer the original question, the difference between the Porter Cable you can buy elsewhere for between $109.99 and $159.99 is the Meguiar's Dual Action Polisher, (G-100a (http://www.meguiars.com/store_meguiars/product_detail.cfm?sku=G-100)), comes with a Lifetime, now questions asked Warranty. It also comes with one W-8006 foam polishing pad (http://www.meguiars.com/store_meguiars/product_detail.cfm?sku=W-80) and a W64DA Backing Plate (http://www.meguiars.com/store_meguiars/product_list.cfm?store=pro&line=proauto&catagory=12&subcatagory=1)
It's more or less an insurance policy and a very good one at that. For some people it's worth it, for others it's not. That's up to each individual to decide. Before coming to work for Meguiar's here in Irvine, I purchased 2 G100a's through the Brilliant Solutions Catalog, one for me, and one for my wife to use.
I think mine's becoming worn-out, and if so, I'll be taking Meguiar’s up on their no questions asked warranty!

So now you're asking questions???:D :D :D
Seriously, thanks for jumping in Mike. As a user of the PC for 9 years now I can attest to their durability and it's certainly saved me a lot of elbow grease over the years. The results with a PC always speak for themselves.

Reguarding the warranty on the Meguiar's PC. I'm 20 now and have had it a few months. I'm not expecting Meguiar's to go anywhere any time soon so I guess mine will be the real test of the warranty :D .
