The above SL55 has less than 10,000 miles on it. While at the dealership for service, somebody parked it where water from a sprinkler landed on it. It got etched with water spots. I fixed it over a year ago and I have been detailing it every two weeks ever since.

Superior Shine,
First WOW! Thats very nice. Second I have a question, those etched water spots. I have one on my car that came from a swamp cooler (I know even worse), but I am thinking Arizona and California have close levels of minerals in our water so what exactly did it take to remove the spots?

I was thinking something along the lines of some 2000 or 1500 grit wet sand paper followed by compound power cleaner is what it would take. Any suggestions? Thanks.

SS,

Yet again, you continue to amaze us with STELLAR results. I would dare say that the finish on that Mercedes is as close to perfect as it could come! Excellent work!

For those of you that haven't visited the Best Write-Up Forum (http://www.meguiarsonline.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=28), you need to make a special effort to check out Superior Shine's 'Best Write-Up' winning thread (http://www.meguiarsonline.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=292) where he did a full-detail on a 745il BMW.

Again, great work SS!

First let me thank everybody for the compliments. I love detailing and this forum gives me the opportunity to share "the passion".

To remove water spots, I first washed the vehicle. Sometimes some spots will come off with a good wash. I then buff the area. I have used everything from wool pads to foam. You will need to diagnose the problem then follow through with the appropriate tools and products.

On this SL 55 I first buffed the area then checked for spots that didn't come out. Those that didn’t come out got sanded with 2000 grit. I then followed the Meguiars system all the way down to topping it off with #20.

I have never completely buffed/polished this SL. I have over the last year buffed and /or polished out various scuffs and scratches.

Lucky for us that this client has a beautiful car, wants it in near perfect condition, and choose us to do it.

Yet another reason why I love my job.
