Newbie question: Is there a quick spray wash to get bird poop off your car with getting out the wash bucket?

  • #2
    Hello,

    to the Forums!

Quik Detailer should be sufficient to get rid of the fresh stuff, although you might want to get yourself a clay bar if its already dried, just to minimise marring on the paint.

      Hi guns,

      Welcome to Meguiar's Online!

Bird droppings can be very corrosive to the finish and you need to get them off the paint as fast as you can to minimize any damage. Therein lies the problem, how do you get the bird dropping off without scratching the paint as bird droppings can be kind of scratchy besides being corrosive.

The way to remove a fresh bird dropping is to use an ample amount of a quick detailer like Meguiar's Quik Detailer or NXT Speed Detailer to wet the bird dropping itself, as well as the paint around the bird dropping, and then use a clean, soft microfiber polishing cloth, or a 100% cotton, terry cloth towel to grab-off the bird dropping, (don't smear it across the entire finish, and then re-wipe the area with a clean side of your wiping cloth or use a fresh wiping cloth to re-wipe the area.

If the bird dropping has already completely dried, then you'll probably be better off to re-wet the bird dropping by saturating it with lots of water from a hose and then wash it off.

If the bird dropping has dried, but a fresh water source isn't available, then use one of our quick detailers to wet and saturate the bird dropping until it's soft again and then remove using the technique listed above when using a quick detailer.

Either way, the idea is to get the bird dropping off the finish before it can etch the finish and without scratching the paint in the process.
