  • The Garry Dean Wash Method... Finally...

Mods: If this is out of line I apologize. Please remove if you see fit.

I have been talking about this for a while now and its finally here for you all to enjoy!

Over the past few months I have been tweaking my wash method and using it as a professional in the field. I also have multiple clients who are using this method with fantastic results over other methods. This is similar to what we all already know and love, but with some "Garry Dean" flare.

I hope you all benefit from and enjoy this video.

    Thanks for watching!

        I like it !!!

It's really between waterless and rinseless wash. Very economical.

A very cool twist on rinseless washing, Garry.

If we can be so bold as to perhaps add a little something to it, we'd like to. Obviously the goal here is two fold - get the car clean, and do it without scratching or otherwise marring the paint. Well, add in the third aspect of using less water, which is a good thing too, of course. But the car you showed here wasn't all that dirty so your towel wasn't getting all that dirty either. On a really dirty car we would like to suggest that when you pull the wash towel out of the bucket, make one pass across the pre-soaked panel and then flip to a clean portion of the towel for a second pass, and again for each subsequent pass on that panel. Or lift the leading edge of the towel for each pass so as to keep that line of dirt away from the paint. Something like the technique we show for using Ultimate Wash & Wax Anywhere on a dirty car, as shown here:

Lift the leading edge of the towel as you move over the paint immediately next to your first swipe. This keeps the dirt you've just picked up away from the paint, allowing a clean portion of the towel to pick up the dirt in this path.

Two passes, two stripes of removed dirt.

With the towel rolled even further back, a third pass is made.....

.... and a third stripe of dirt is created. (the first one is on the part of the towel being held by the thumb here)

Obviously the dirtier the car the more care you need to use when washing. And certainly really heavy dirt will need to be hosed off first in extreme cases - like you've been off-roading in a 4x4. But this method of loading a bunch of towels in a bucket of a rinseless wash solution is very cool. With one of those gamma seal lids attached to a typical bucket anyone can transport enough material to clean several cars without need for a hose.

Garry, please understand that we say all this not as a criticism of your process, but for all the members of MOL who might be new to rinseless washing in general. We think this is a very slick idea and applaud you for your continued creativity!!

No worries, Mike. I agree with your point. I use this method as well. The Porsche was definitely not very dirty. Thanks for the comment.

I like it, I'm going to use it too!

Also, to make my less abundance of towels last a little longer, would it be good to flip the towel and use multiple sides since there are an available 8?

I know you have way more towels to use than me and this method would work well for people with loads of towels. I think it would be a little more sensible for me though to flip the towels and utilize all 8 sides of the towel or at least more than one of the sides.

                          I love the method though!!!!!!

Curious. What is your dilution ratio? I know you aren't using Megs products but they are similar. Secondly, does the solution settle to the bottom of the bucket with the towels in it?

Thanks! In my testing the towels seem to lose a lot of lubricity in drips during towel flips that could be better used on the surface of the paint.

I generally will use between 1 and 3 of the 8 available towel sides before switching to a new towel.

I have my own product line and I am using one of mine in the video. Its called Infinite Use Detail Juice. Essentially its a waterless/Rinseless wash concentrate, but it can be used for many other things, like dressing tires... Sounds crazy, right?

IUDJ stays suspended in the water solution. It does not separate. 1 oz per 3-4 gallons of water is what I use. For the presoak I use my IUDJ 1/2 oz to 24 oz water.
