  • Headlight & Plastic Restoration vs. Heavy Duty Two-Step

I've been debating between purchasing the Meguiar's headlight & clear plastic restoration or the heavy duty two step kit. I will be using them on headlights that are pretty frosted over, I'm guessing from oxidation. I wasn't sure if going the heavy duty route has potential to damage the headlight. I just didn't want to go the "moderate" route with the restoration kit and then need to purchase the heavy duty later if it doesn't do enough.

Any tips would be appreciated. I was thinking of placing the order in the next couple days. Thanks!

I have the heavy duty kit. My headlights were pretty frosted as well and that kit made quick work of them. Main thing you need to do is ensure you buff out all the sanding marks from the 1500 and 3000 grit. It comes with a wool pad to put on a drill. I initially used the pad and the plastx. Then once I got the megs da buffer I used that with ultimate compound instead. As far as damaging the headlights go, you shouldn't damage them. I suggest you watch the video about the kit, as I did and it guided me through what to do. Hope this helps.

renegadejade's answer really sums things up nicely - the HD Kit is fantastic for lenses that are in really nasty shape as it will bring them back to very high clarity with ease.
