  • Ultimate Polish By Hand?

I want to strip any old wax off my car and from some of the research I've done, sounds like polish may be the most effective. If so, can I reasonably expect to be able to do so by hand? I'm also going to clay. Will claying remove any old wax? Thanks.

    Hi Taco Cat,

Both the use of a clay bar and our Ultimate Polish would remove any existing wax on the surface. Ultimate Polish is a cleaner/polish. It has mild cleaning ability to help remove light swirls & refine the paint surface, and because of these cleaners, it will remove remaining wax.

Thanks, Nicholas. Sounds like I'm on the right path. But I want to make sure it's okay to polish by hand.

Absolutely OK to work by hand. We prefer to use a soft foam applicator pad like our X3070 Soft Foam Applicator Pad to apply compound, polish or wax by hand, and a clean high quality microfiber towel to remove, like our X2020 Supreme Shine Microfiber Towel.

Feel free to post further questions.

Just got my shipment of X3070 applicator pads this past weekend!

          Thanks again for your help.

I recently purchased the CCS Euro Foam Polish Applicators to apply Meguiars Ultimate Polish. Which color applicator should I use? Can you use 1 foam pad to do the whole car? I have the orange, white, red, and gold pads. I thought I read on some post you had to use a lot of pads. I was hoping you could clean these up and reuse if necessary.

We are not familiar with the applicators pads you have mentioned, but by looking at the descriptions of them on-line, you could likely use any of them to apply our Ultimate Polish. The Orange will provide the most cleaning ability, if you are looking to utilize that feature of our Ultimate Polish. The cleaning ability of "swirl removal ability" or Ultimate Polish, if you need to remove light swirls, will be best utilized with the Orange Light Cutting or White Polishing.

I have three colors of these. I would apply polish with white one, the orange pad is for a compound, the red is ridiculously soft I don't use it but it is for wax. I never had a success removing swirls by hand I even got pinnacle pal with three pads, a car became glossy and shiny but swirls even light ones still present.

Which is why most of us move up to a dual action polisher for defect removal.

But if you live in the place where you don't have an access to power supply and you don't want to adjourn your hobby you got to work out your popeye's hands. Can anyone recommend a good cordless drill with about 2800 and up rpm multi speed for DA system?

Man versus Machine The human hand versus Meguiar's G110! This Lincoln has moderate swirls and also straight-line scratches running from front to back,

Unfortunately I don't own or use the DAPS attachment so I can't recommend a drill.

Read it a few years back that the reason I got those pads didn't help much to remove the swirls on 2 relatively new cars. Still, no access to PS and the new equipment to remove swirls by hand doesn't work. I will need to find cordless drill with high RPM, but nothing on a market affordable or capable doing this.
