  • Meguiar Non acid wheel tire cleaner VS Hot Rims

Apparently, they are the same product, but it says it dilution up to 2:1. What dilution ratio would equal to Hot rims?

    1:1

Is it really more economical buying this than the Hot Rims bottle? A Hot Rims bottle is $6-7 and it has 24 ounces. You can get the Meguiar non acid $22 at detailedimage and is 128oz, that is 5.3 times the 24 ounces.

    $6 bottle x 5.3 = $31.8

The question what dilutions leads to the same potency found in Hot Rims?

Many people claim 1:1 is one product, one water, but shouldn't it be 1:2?

    1:1 should mean undiluted product.

    1:2 is half concentration.

If Hot rims is half concentration, then you would get 10.6 times the product for only $22.

Actually a dilution of a product at 1:1 means
1 part water plus 1 part product.

    A dilution of 4:1 means
4 parts water plus 1 part product.

Example: Mixing D115 Express Rinse Free Wash And Wax at 4:1 (distilled water to product).
Option 1 - Empty 1 gallon product into a five gallon container. Fill to 5 gal by adding 4 gallons of distilled water.
Option 2 - Put 40 ounces of water into a container. Add 10 ounces of product.
Option 99 put 4 ounces of water and add 1 ounce of product.
See why Meguiar’s has been a trusted car care company for more than 120 years by shopping an authorized selection of products to treat any motorized vehicle.

Don't forget to add the costs of your distilled water into your cost justification.

It depends on how dirty the wheels are. If they are really dirty then 1:1 is the dilution to go with. If they are are fairly clean then 2:1 is the way to go. Same goes for when cleaning tires. Play around with what works for you is the best advice I can give you.

I would recommend getting the matching D143 bottle to make it easier on how to dilute the product.

One thing I will mention is that putting some sort of protection on the wheels and all one needs is soap and water with the occasional deep cleaning every now and then.

      This chart should help.
