  • Wax a new car

I learnt from this forum that new paint have to “outgas” so no wax for 2-3 months.

How about new car? According to the sticker inside the driver side door, my new Honda was built in Oct-2017. My dealserhip received the car on Oct-29. Can I wax the car now?

No need to worry. Wax or seal at any point. The paint curing process is different at the plant.

Cool, thanks. I will wax on Saturday, it will be +3C (+37F). No choice, it will probably be the warmest day in the next 2 months.

BTW. What is the paint curing process in the manufacturing plant? Bake?

The Guz is correct. The process is different with OEM paint on a new car. They us a high bake process so the paint cures faster. It is also worth noting that a new car is often a few weeks old before you actually take possession.

The car is a Honda Civic and it was built in Alliston Ontario which is an hour drive dealership.

Good to know about the bake process. I will wax this weekend.
