  • USing Mequiar's backing pad with Porter Cable 7424?

I bought some pads and a backing pad to use with a Porter Cable 7424 the other day, and when I purchased the polisher today, I found that I had a female to female match up instead of a male to female. Is there an adaptor Meguiar's or someone else has that will allow a matchup, or did I just donate $20 to the auto paint store? (the packaging is gone, so I can't return the backing pad)

    Thanks--

    Ron H

Sounds like you bought a rotary backing plate. Not sure if there's an adaptor for that.

Yes, I guess Meguiar's makes both styles of backing plate. I did ask for one for the PC, but I guess the sales guy--like me--didn't know the difference. (Should have gone to Lowe's for the PC *first*, I guess!)

Thanks so much for the adapter link. I would just hate to have to toss a brand new backing plate!

Does anyone have a link to the Lowe's discussion forum?

All forums have rules, often time the are not enforced very well as it's usually not a fun job. No need to apologize, just keep the rules in mind when posting and try to remember who's forum you're on.

              Thanks!
