1985 Pontiac Ferrari

or as I called this car the Fierarri. This is a 1985 Pontiac Fiero with a German body kit if I'm not mistaken which really made this car resemble a Ferrari. The front nose both front fenders, the back lid and the side panels below the moulding were clear coated. Everything else was single stage.

This is the car when I first arrived to the jobsite. Car looked great at first.

After the wash I did check the paints condition with the Xenon light & the flash of the camera. Although this car looked great it was badly swirled.

On my test spot I found that #80 with the W-8006 pad on the rotory was my best choice. Some areas required 2 passes.

The pad shows the paint transfer which confirms the single stage paint

After claying the paint & #80 & two coats of NXT Wax the results

Interior was vacuumed and dash was wiped down. Door hinge area was wiped down & dressed with hyper dressing.
Total Time: 9hrs 15min.

Re: 1985 Pontiac Ferrari

Nice

Don't you just love working on single stage paints?

Nice write up too, thanks for taking the time to put the buffer down, laying-out a shot, snagging some pictures and later processing them and then doing all the work it requires to create this thread.

Thank you.

Re: 1985 Pontiac Ferrari

The Fiero looks wet. Deep color. Great job. Looks better then when it was new. Way to go.

Re: 1985 Pontiac Ferrari

This car was quite enjoyable to work on. Being that this car was low my back was feeling the pain the next morning.

Thanks for the link. That was pretty interesting. I wonder if the buyers of the counterfeit Ferraris paid full price for one.
