Sorry, no pictures yet. I'll try to capture what I'm trying to fix on the paint tonight and update this post.

    Car - 1981 Supercharged Porsche 928
Color - Single stage Mocha Brown (I have reason to believe at least three panels are not original)

I'm not sure how to describe this. A couple of panels have spots that look like hard water stains. I have my doubts about them being water marks since I've caused hard water stains in the past and I've been able to remove them. These never change.
The panels with the spots are also the same ones I think have been repainted (or the rest of the car was sprayed & these are original).
The spotted panels also have the worst oxidation when I pull it out of winter storage every spring. Using the consumer 1-2-3 line by hand I've always been able to shine up the paint. Usually mid summer I have to hit it again since the brown starts to fade.

Using my new products I started with a two bucket wash & dry. The car sat in my garage for about a week until last night when I could start cleaning the paint.

So far I've only worked on the top side of one fender.

Much to my suprise, the medium clay bar didn't seam to remove much. I was using a 50/50 mix of Last Touch. Unless somehow I was doing this wrong. The paint on this car feels very smooth already so...

I started with Deep Crystal paint cleaner, didn't really do anything.
Moving down the line I tried #82, started to see some results so I jumped right into #83. Whoa - spots are now gone!!! Except one problem, really bad hazing. I turned up the speed on the D/A, tried again. The hazing got better but still there.
So I thought "what the hell" and moved to #80. This took out most of the hazing, I was able to clean it up with another go with #82.

Next an application of #7, followed by an application of NXT wax (non 2.0).

Looks 100x's better than the hood. There are still a lot of small stone chips that are not all the way through the paint (yet). Not sure if the D/A will be able to fix these, but with the spots gone & most of the swirls cleaned up I say this is a success!!

Thanks for the follow-up to your first post...

Good to see that you experimented until you found a system that worked on your paint system.

Can't wait to see the pics. Sounds like it will look like a mirror. Good luck with the rest of the car.

You sounded like you were doing so well until that jump to M83, which meant jumping over M80! As you work on the rest of the vehicle give M80 a try right off the bat and let us know how that performs on the swirls and other defects. From what you've reported thus far, we'd be willing to be M80 will be your go to product for this vehicle.

A supercharged Porsche 928 huh? Looking forward to pictures of this beast!

I agree with Michael, give #80 a try. If the #83 left hazing then the clear 'should' be workable enough for #80 to work. Unless you were using a 7006 maroon pad with the #83? Happy to hear you ended up getting good results anyway. You may not want to try too hard to buff away the stone chips. Doing so will just cause the clear to get even thinner and chip even easier. Touch up paint is about the only way to really fix a stone chip and that's a pain in the butt and seems to never come out as good as I hope.

Looking forward to seeing some pics!

Single stage - no clear coat from the factory. IIRC Every non metalic Porsche color is single stage up until the late 90's or so.

These are really fine chips, if the fender was fiberglass I would say they were stress related. It's aluminum so I'm not sure...
I'll try to get some pics of what I'm looking at after work.

Reading other posts I noticed #80 is very popular so I picked up a large bottle and only samples of the other two. I guess I'm like a kid on x-mas and wanted to try everything

Oh ya, you even typed that in your original post. Some of us should pay attention a little better.

Did you go to Green Bay East or something?

I'm kidding.......ok, no running over my car.

Here are some pictures - I'm thinking I should have put this in the extreme makeover thread? Maybe when I'm finished.

I only had time to attack the roof tonight. One of the worst parts of the car.
As you can see from the photos, it's not the entire roof. The sunroof panel is fine, so is the part by the rear hatch glass. For some reason the rest of the roof is all spotty with what looks like water spots. These spots have been there for quite a while. Using the 1-2-3 consumer line (and some other products over the years) I've been able to tone them down every spring - they always come back.

Armed with the G110 I was determined to get rid of them once and for all!!

                Before pics:

My wife came home when I was almost finished and asked "Watch'cha doing?" I said "what does it look like I'm doing?" She looked the car over and said "Covering the 81 in masking tape?" She then felt the before and after panel - she understood

Anyway. Taking the advice from above I went after half the roof (minus the sunroof & back panel) with #80. I really wasn't seeing the spots going away then I remembered the first two mistakes with the D/A:
                1. moving too fast
                2. not enough pressure

So I slowed down, pressed a bit harder and I could see the spots fading away.

After a few passes 90% of the spots were gone. Time for the big gun (at least for me) so I grabbed my pad marked #83 and did a few more passes. Now the spots were almost all gone. I spent a bit more time on the problem areas with #83, then back to 80 / 82. It was getting more difficult each time to remove the product. I did notice the pad was getting a bit warm - not enough product?

I held my halogen shop light close to the paint for inspection - looked good but didn't have the "pop" I was expecting (well, as much pop as you can get from 27 year old brown).

I grabbed my #7 pad, turned down the D/A speed & started to polish - YES! now I was getting somewhere.

Did a few coats of NXT - results below:

Here is a comparison showing the clean side I did tonight and the other side I will do tomorrow (the white dots on the clean side is lint from the bonnet I used):

Here is the motor - there are currently four Supercharged 928's in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Mine is the baby of the group with only about 450hp. The top dog in our group is making over 700hp.
This project started about six years ago when a friend of mine was determined to make more power out of his 928. Word got out & now there are over 50 supercharged 928's worldwide with his kit installed.

Nope, I'm originally from up nort.

Great work! Looks way better! Can't wait to see some overall car shots when your done. I'm loving that under hood shot too.
