  • #49 is a winner....

Guys/Gals @ Meguiars.... I must give you a salute on your #49 oxidation remover... it is an outstanding product. This was my first experience with this product..... I was wowed.

My boat is too big to go into the garage and unfortunately I do not have the room (nor property) to build a bigger garage... so my boat lives outside with the sun everyday. I had a couple of spots with light to moderate oxidation where #45 (tried this first) and #44 (tried this second) would not bring back the crisp reflection in the gel.... it was shinny but not a crisp reflection. I tried #49 with a 8006 & PC first.. ok... worked pretty well with many many passes.... then I tried a small section using #49, 7006 and PC. Wallllllaaaa perfect results..... the crisp reflection was back!!! 3 passes on each section working the product in well each time netting fantastic results. I finished with #45 and then #63.

I enjoy the fact that Meguiars products continue to allow me to remedy surface problems with great products and allow me to attain results that are better than when the boat was new. Great job folks.

The #49 also worked to remedy a couple of spots that where blurry (I suspect from fender use). Great product.

For those wondering why in the world does this guy not use a rotary..... answer is I do not think I have polished (pun intended) my skills enough to let loose on my boat. Additionally I do not mind putting in a little extra time with the PC. I have been and will continue to practice with the rotary on a old piece of boat I have....

Thanks for this feedback and we're glad you've dialed in a process for your boat. Any chance you took some before and after pictures? We'd love to see them.

I wish I would have taken before and afters... sigh..... but in the experimentation phase you never think you will hit on something ... then after seeing the results I get excited and finish off the area with polish and wax.

I will be increasing my wax refresh frequency (from every 3 months to every 2 months) to ensure oxidation does not happen again..... this coupled with a better soap (#65) in lieu of the harsher stuff I was using over the last year should provide me better protection against our friend the sun.
