After the classroom portion was over, we did a walk-by of the cars and evaluated the finish looking for a couple of good candidates for learning detailing techniques.
This BMW with a brand new custom paint job was hurting for some attention. The finish was hazy and filled with swirls as you can see by the picture of this carbon fiber hood.
Going into Meguiar's Garage for a makeover!

Next up was this red BMW because of the horrific swirls, dull lifeless finish and water spots...
Here is what is referred to as RAW photo. The below photo was cropped out of the original and has not been resized, changed, modified, or Photoshoped in any way.
I don't know about you, but it hurts my eyes just to look at it...

This group of guys, and one girl were full of energy and seemed to really enjoy learning how to detail their cars. This one guy in particular was not only completely into learning how to work on paint, plastic, vinyl, leather chrome etc., but he was also a lot of fun to work with...
Here he is about to get his head shined up with some Speed Glaze by his buddy!

First up... the red BMW...
After wiping the hood down with Meguiar's Quik Detailer, we all inspected the finish with both our eyes and the palm of our clean hands. Our sense of touch revealed a lot of built-up bonded contaminants on the finish.
One of the priorities at the Detailing Clinics at Meguiar's is to get the club members actively involved with the detailing process, these classes are hands-on classes because people learn best by doing, not watching.
So everyone that had never used a clay bar to clay a car was invited first to try their hand at the claying process.
It doesn't take long to clay a car when you have 5-6 people working on the same car!

After claying only a small section, everyone was asked to turn their clay bar over to check see what the clay was removing from the finish.
Here's a close-up,
The gunk you see here was safely removed after only a few moments of claying a small section of the hood. You can imagine what it would look like if this young gentleman were to be working by himself and clayed the entire car.

Very nice documentation Mike! But where's the rest of it??? Just kidding. I see you spent your early morning hour from 5 to 6AM doing this. I love the claybar demo!
Can't wait to read the rest of it.
