Here's one for the record books. This thing was in horrible condition! Guy showed this truck, and I'm baffled how he even brought it out of the garage much less a car show.

Re: Black Colorado...
This one was a very strange cookie. No matter what, I could not finish it out correctly. I tried everything in the books to get it to finish out, but nothing worked. I even went through Menzerna and 3M products, nothing worked in the traditional methods of rotary or DA. After about 6 hours of going through everything I had, I stuck a yellow foam pad on a DA with some M205, and presto!!!! This is the end result. The biggest factor in finishing this out was a firm pad and VERY little product. I had to clean the pad after every 2nd pass, and apply 2 drops of M205 to the pad, then work it in over a 2x2 area. Work another 2x2 spot, then blow the pad out again, and continue this throughout the entire truck.
So if you're having a problem with "tick" marks or buffer swirls while using M205, try to reduce the amount of product, and work it in with a firm foam pad on a DA, and clean the pad OFTEN! This method produced rotary results on this truck.

Re: Black Colorado...
Nice work Nick, good job testing and testing until you found a combination of pad, product and technique that worked.
Hope you set this guy up on a regular maintenance program where you do the washing and waxing...
I hope you clued him into how to how his finish became so swirled out to start with?

Thats one thing I do with all of my customers. I teach them how to properly wash their vehicle, give them a list of products to buy, and give them Rick's # over at ADS2008 Meguiar's Batmobile Team

Re: Black Colorado...
What a transformation! Beautiful job.
You cleaned the pad after every second pass and you say you [blew] it out. Do you mean with compressed air? Also, did you use the same polishing pad for the entire vehicle?2013 Highlander - black

Re: Black Colorado...
This is a great example of the fact that there is not just one solution to buffing out a car. A key point is working a test spot until you find the combination that works, and don't be affraid to experiment.
