The vehicle in question is a 2007 BMW 325i that is being returned to the dealer at lease completion. Car has some pretty nasty swirls and is going to need some serious correction. Missing paint on some areas of the bumper so not much I can do there. I have it for the week so I decided to pull it into the carport to begin the process with the engine detail since it's been raining every day...
Car has about 35k miles and the owner (24-year old female) has never opened the hood, much less ever had it cleaned. Pulled it in and popped the hood and this is what I found:
Process...
1. First placed aluminum foil over the alternator and the one or two exposed electrical connections I could find.
2. Removed the heat insulator from the hood and placed aside.
3. Misted down the engine and underside of hood with hose on light setting.
4. Liberally sprayed APC+ over everything and let dwell for 10 minutes.
5. Came back with brushes and more APC+ and agitated all spots of heavy soiling and grease.
6. Sprayed APC+ on the insulation pad and gently scrubbed with soft bristle brush, hosed down, and placed on patio to dry during the two hours of sunlight the Gods granted me!
7. Misted off any APC+ and dried with microfibers reserved for engine bays.
8. Used Meguiar's M39 applied via terry towel to scrub all black plastic surfaces and then followed with M40 via applicator brush.
9. Applied DP Wheel Wax to all painted surfaces.
10. Came back over certain black trim pieces that were slightly faded with Meguiar's Hyper Dressing.
11. Removed wax with microfiber and did a final wipe of all painted surfaces and silver plastic engine cover with Quik Detailer. Polished BMW emblem with Meguiar's Chrome Polish Liquid.
12. Reinstalled headliner.
And here's the finished result after approximately one and a half hours...
And the product lineup used...
As always, thanks for looking...updates as job stages are completed to follow!
