As far as prevention of swirls, the most important thing you can do is to attend to your wash techniques. You are no doubt already acquainted with the two-bucket method. You might check out these two articles:

Accumulator's Non-Marring Wash Technique
Supe's Touchless Wash Method

As far as a maintenance polish, Tuck's recommendation of M205 or SwirlX sound right. If they do not remove your swirls, then move up to Ultimate Compound.
