I did run into a little trouble, on the hood of a Monte Carlo I did. The hood had been painted years prior and was a poor paint job both the cleat and color were (using Mikes term)"whisper thin". There are 2 small "valleys" in the hood (adds to the look of the car/are stiffeners for the hood or something), anyway the paint was very thin there. Once polished out you could really "see" the thin paint, it was a darker shade of red almost a gray(primer color tint to it, under the clear). Just cleaning the paint made the defect easier to see. It was painted with BC/CC and I didn't get to the red paint, just cleaned everything well enough to highlight the defect already there and make it shine!

But as everyone has already said it is a VERY safe machine to use.
