  • Unstable Paint

Just as a general question, sort of in relation to Octane Guys threads, since I have never worked on paint in that condition...

Once paint has reached a certain point, it wont hold up after being polished for more than a few days, and just keep deteriorating.

But if you are on kind of bad paint, and say you get it to hold the look for 3 or 4 months, can you ever sort of 'build the paint back up'? Like this time it lasted 3 months, detailed again with a good polish, and lasts maybe 4 months next time, then 5 months, etc?

Or can you never really work backwards?

If you can restore paint to the point it will retain it's look for 3-4 months, you should be able to maintain this result by maintaining the paint. In other words, doing something to it often, (every 3-4 months), which would typically be applying a pure polish followed by a wax.

The key word here would be maintaining, which is an action verb on your part. You cannot reverse the damage and make the paint back to new again.

Do a search here using the word Unstable

And you'll find some stuff I've posted on the topic...
