Re: Hand wash or power wash

We always pressure wash (cold water) the wheel wells, wheels, tires, and the body of the car from top to bottom (after the wheels are clean), spray down the car with a soap gun with gold class shampoo, then hand wash it with the 2 bucket method. Then we pressure wash it again from top to bottom and hit all the cracks and crevices. If you pressure wash the soap off you can be sure there is no more soap on the surface or behind trim.

When I just rinse it off with a normal hose it doesnt get all the soap from behind trim. Ive noticed that after using an air hose to get all the water out of cracks, a hose just doesnt cut it for removing soap sometimes.

I do both; it really depends on the severity of dirt on the finish, and how much time I have.

If Ive been offroad I must use a pressure washer. It would take days to get the under carriage clean..

I always follow that with a hand wash though..

I think using my pressure washer in place of the hose saves a lot of time when rinsing and initially getting the car wet. 2 bucket wash and pressure washer in place of the hose. Rinses fast.

The only time I power wash is either A: After offroading(been a while, and I can't wait to do it again) and B: During the winter, when it's to cold to hand wash, and I need to get the salt off.

I only use my pressure washer for my wheel wells, wire wheels, tires, and undercarriage. I would never use it on my finish (JMO)

Re: Hand wash or power wash

I pressure wash (standard pressure) then I hand wash then rinse with the delicate nozzle.

I feel it saves water, time and is better at moving the dirt and grime...

a car was not designed to be pressure washed! and please don't do the engine with a high powered spray! you may have been lucky so far but you will have a problem sooner or later!
