  • Show car glaze only for professionals?

I am fairly new to the Meguiar's line of products. I have a dark colored car. I believe I have read that if the professional line of products is not used correctly, it may do more harm than good.

I have also read in the forums that Show car glaze no. 7 is much more glossier than DC 2.

Since I am new to this, should I go with DC 2 just to be safe or shall I use no. 7 instead for an unbeatable shine?

After the polish step, I plan on using 2 coats of Nxt followed by 1 coat of gold class wax for the protection step. Is this combination recommended?

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

From my limited experience It's pretty hard to do any damage to your finish with any of Meguiar's Products if you follow the directions. Just be observant of proper tempuratures and cure times. And make sure that you keep a clean working process.

As far as saying it is "much" more glossier. I am not sure if I would go that far. I have done side by side comparisons and too be honest, I could not tell the difference. I am sure someone with more experience under their belt could. I did my side by side comparison on a brand new paint job. Maybe it would have been different on an older paintjob.

Not a bad idea at all. the DC #2 is a tad easier to work with. I am sure by the time you use up a bottle of the stuff you will consider the #7 next. I did the same.

After the polish step, I plan on using 2 coats of Nxt followed by 1 coat of gold class wax to lock in the polish. Is this recommended?
I think you'll find that will be fine. Some people will stop at the 2nd coat of NXT. I do very much the same as I think the additional coat of Gold Class adds a very small amount to the wet look I get out of it. To me it is worth it. I am working with white paint and have no problems doing exactly what you are considering. have done so several times. I think some here might say you may not see much difference by putting the Gold Class on as the #7 is already rich in oils and is already giving you a rich wet look. But speaking for myself "in my eyes" it does seem to add just a touch.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. [/B][/QUOTE]

I am not sure where you read that Professional Line Products can damage your car. A person could cause damage with something like a rotary buffer and a Pro-Line Product. But that will be the persons and the buffers fault.

        Anyway....

DC#2 is very easy to use. Very Very easy to use. Just apply, work in gently, and remove before it dries.

#7 may take you a couple tries to get the hang of. Meguiars polishes should be removed before they dry, however #7 never really dries, but I believe it sort of skins over when it is ready to be removed.

For a dark color, you certainly may see a difference in depth and gloss with #7 after a little practice. And it is not dangerous at all.

Just try and keep cleaners/polishes/waxes off rubber/plastic trim as always.

It is not really the 'polish' you are trying to protect with wax, more your hard work on the finish. Dont forget to clean and clay as well to prep the finish.

Meguiars always recomends 2 coats of wax, with 3 at most. So your plan is fine. If you really want to try some Pro-Line products, you can try the #26 Hi-Tec Yellow wax instead of Gold Class.

You can't do any damage with #7; if it doesn't turn out right you can just wash it off. But I'd try putting the topper on it before doing that, as some streaking/smearing/etc. (the most common type of issues) will often go away after that next step.

It's fine for amateur use. I first used it as a child and the women in my mother's family thought it was great stuff (usually under #16). They sure weren't detailing professionals

#7 is almost just like a "richer/better" version of Deep Crystal Step #2. I hesitate to over-simplify, but it's *that* similar, functionally speaking.
