  • Car washing question..

I got all my car washing stuff in mail on wednesday. Its cloudy out today so i'm guessing its a good day to wash it. But, on the nxt car wash it says 4 capfuls into a gallon of water. I have a 5 gallon bucket and the grit guard i bought. If i put just one gallon of water in it will probably just go to the top of the grit guard. Does everyone wash their cars with just one gallon of water or do you fill the bucket up with more capfuls? Might be dumb question but its better if i ask before i waste the nxt.

if one gallon barely goes above your grit gaurd then yes use more. Add 1 extra gallon at a time until you find the water level to your liking.

Just to give you an idea what I use..... I just picked up some 5 gallon buckets and I do have the grit guards. I now use 4-5 gallons of water(4oz of soap) and that seems to work best for me.

Like zsoap said find what you need, everyone is a little different.

Thanks for the replys, wish these buckets had gallon markers on the side lol. I'll just find an empty gallon jug. Another question, does everyone wash with warm water or cold? Sorry for the newbie questions

I agree on the gallon marks. I use warm water.

I use warm water in the spring & fall when it's still chilly out, whatever the hose temp is during summer. During the winter I give up and go to a touchless wash (yeah, I know, it makes me cringe too-but when it's 10 degrees outside, I can live with it on the dd!)....

I hate wind. . Had to rinse the car 5 times then dry it quick with the magnet before more residue from the trees fell on it. Does everyone just let the magnet and wash mitts air dry? Or do you throw them in the dryer.

I usually toss the mitt in the wash with the mf's-actually washing some right now (always wash them alone, never with anything else!)

Just buy a plastic measuring cup and fill it up with nxt wash solution and dilute it 1 oz product to 1 gallon of water. I wash large vehicles so I measure about 4 - 4.5 oz of wash soap and fill up the 5 Gallon bucket about 2 inches from the top.
And I wash with cold water to normal temp.

A good measure Tim, from Meg's, gave me over the phone is for every gallon of water, use 1 ounce of soap.

You can always put some marks on the bucket your self, I did. I actually use two buckets with 2 gal of water in each. One for each side of the car and a separate bucket for wheels, tires and lower parts. I use warm water in the winter, spring, fall and cooler in the summer. I have a garage.
