  • MFs and being insane

okay please tell me i'm normal and not insane.

so i needed to clean my rims and just grabbed a MF and cleaned them.

then I went to wash them. I sprayed with APC 10:1 and then washed them properly.

is it normal that there is still a few black spots from the brake dust on the MF's. these will be used only for my rim cleaners?

am i normal or just insane?

Yep that's normal. Its now a wheel cleaning towel! Also good for wiping exhaust tips, and the engine bay!

Not any moreso than the rest of us anyway! I keep my wheels nicely waxed and hit them with a QD and wheel-dedicated MF towels between washes to keep 'em looking good. I spray mine with APC at 4:1 and the extra strength seems to get almost all the brake dust out. Not all, but most. Trivial point really.......I suppose detailing your towels would be a sign of insanity!!!!

yes i'd probably agree detailing your MFs is probably insane.

once and a while i'll take the wheels off and clean the **** right out of them. what i can't reach.

but using APC 4:1 or lighter, some soap and water, nice wheels brush, works really well.

but i haven't tried APC on my MINI rims yet. wanna be sure first.

          that's a question for Richard.

Is APC okay on the MINI rims?

Sorry didn't see this msg. Yes, I've used APC on MINI rims without any problems. although lately for most cars that concern me about using Wheel Brightener, I've just used a soft body brush the kind with flagged ends that are really soft--and car wash soap to get the wheels clean.

I rinse them off, dry them, and follow with a MF towell and Quik Detailer in case I missed any part of it.

I used air from a little pump/tank to blow any excess water from the lug holes during the drying process.
