Over at another forum I frequent a poster mentioned being so impressed with the results of using PlastX on his headlights that he thought he'd give it a go on some scratches on his bumpers and the cups under his door handles. He said it worked great but he was suddenly concerned that it might be too aggressive to use on paint (love that he thinks about this AFTER doing it!!!) but it got me thinking - what really is the difference between PlastX and ScratchX? Sure, ScratchX would be the recommended product to use in his application, but is PlastX a bad thing to use here?

PlastX - ScratchX; what's the diff?

The simple answer is they are very different in that one is formulated to work specifically on automotive paints while the other is specifically formulated to work on clear plastics. They use different types of diminishing abrasives and PlastX leaves behind a protective polymer while ScratchX needs to be followed up with a paint protectant.
The best option is to use the right product for the task at hand.
