  • Quick Question, on storing a vehicle

    Hey guys!

I finally had a chance this weekend to clean up my 02 Trans Am WS6.

I cleaned the under carriage, waxed all jams, cleaned interior... and did 2 coats of NXT on exterior.

Today I just finished storing my car for winter but something bad happened , on the way to the storage place it started to spit rain , now the roads wern't wet at all but my car was all spotted up with little rain specs. also there is a long gravel road going to the storage place which I went very slowly on.

When I stored it I was soo mad and didn't want to touch the paint at all because it was FLAWLESS before I left and didn't want to risk putting swirls or scratches cleaning it up a bit before putting the covers on.

    Now my question:P,

Is it alright for the paint to be really dusty and speckled with rain drops and little tiny specs of gravel? or dust around the wheel wells for 6 months? like will it screw up the paint? I'm really worried as the car is in showroom condition and only has 3900 miles on it. I put the covers on with my dad very carefully not to drag on the car just a straight drop on type a deal.

Will I be okay? it's got 2 coats of NXT on there

It's probably ok... but why don't you go back with some Quick Detailer and a couple of 100% cotton polishing cloths and wipe it down to get all of that junk off of there?

I don't know, I was thinking that but "tiny specs of gravel"??? i think that that would cause swirls/RIDS

Depending on what was in the water(Acid rain) it could leave water spots.

I kinda cringed when you said you put the cover on it with the dust on it. Thats a good way to cause swirls.

What would it hurt to drive it back home and wash it again? I know you may not want to put miles on it or it may be along way to the storage place, but I believe that would be the best idea. This is just my .02 though.

I wanted to drive it back, but with my tight schedule and all I didn't have time for it this week, also if I were to wash it again at home it would have just gotten dusty again cuz it's a long gravel road:S.

I think dirt on your car for long time is ok, but the rain is my concern. If it's acid rain, then even with your newly coat of wax, it might cause some water spots on the paint if you just let it dry on the paint. If it's my car, I would go back there and using Quick Detailer bottles, spray the entire car, wipe it down with single stroke using microfiber towel and turn the towel freqently to avoid the dirts re-introduce back to the car's surface and causing scratch.

like it was just tiny rain dots and when they dried it's just little tiny specs everywhere:S.

How about getting some QEW or ONRW and wash it with that ? Way safer than just QD it.

just wash it agen then apply QD on it. it will shine like new again. you may wanna put some car covering on it to avoid paint contamination. just a thought though. . . .

                        cali duster + QD.
I'd wash it, but I'm really anal about that kinda stuff.
