  • Questions about the usage of #21, #7, and NXT

Hi, I am new the forum and I have tried the DA on a friend's car with #80 and NXT after watching Mike's DVD. I must say I am very pleased with the results!

I just bought some #21 and #7 and some new pads from ADS, and here are my questions:

What are some of the specific techniques when applying #21 and #7 using DA?
Should I treat #21 and #7 as NXT? (as Mike shown in the DVD)
In what order should I layer them (#21, #7 & NXT)?
How long should I wait between each layer?

    Thank you!

#21 is a LSP (Last Step Product)
#7 is a Polish (Polish are applied at first)
NXT, whenever you dont feel like using #21

I dont think it is really necessary to either top #21 with NXT or vice versa.

      Yes. The basic rule of thumb when using the G100 dual action polisher is as follows;
      • Speed Setting 5.0 for removing defects/applying cleaner polishes
      • Speed Setting 3.0 for applying polish/waxes or pure waxes
      • Speed Setting 5.0 for removing waxes by machine with a bonnet over a clean dry pad.

Here's one exception for applying waxes, if you're applying a cleaner/wax to a neglected finish then you need the higher speed setting to help the combination of pad, product and tool action to do the physical cleaning, for this use the 5.0 Speed Setting with a W-8006 foam polishing pad.

In all practicality, you should choose either NXT or M21, here's the order,
      1. Wash car.
      2. Clay car.
      3. Clean paint using a cleaner/polish with the PC.
      4. Polish paint using a pure polish by hand or the PC (Optional step as M80 contains a lot of polishing oils already).
      5. Protect paint by applying two thin coats of wax with at least a half hour or so in-between the first and second coat after initial wipe-off of the first application.

      Hope this helps...
