In a nutshell though, no you don't HAVE to use 80 after 83.
You also don't HAVE to buff out your swirls either.
Heck, you don't even HAVE to wash your car.

But if you want to remove the hazing so often caused by 83, expecially when used with a 7006 pad, then I would STRONGLY URGE you to use 80 after 83.
Well i was kinda hoping mike phillips wouldve put his 2cents in but oh well. ya u were completly clear but I didnt have any #80 so thats why i was asking,, I went ahead and used #9 it worked great!!! Thanks for your help mike.

I think I got so caught up in the fact that you really needed to correct the defects caused by the 7006 pad/M83 that I wasn't really thinking about using anything other than M80 - it's my go to product you see. We were talking about this very thing at yesterdays Meguiar's clinic, literally using the 7006 pad on the PC and what happens when you do, and what needs to be done to correct it. The way I probably should have worded my response was: you don't need to use 80 specifically, but you do need to remove the marring caused by the tools you used. Whether that next step is 80 or 9 or something else doesn't matter so much, but you need to perform that step. I certainly don't want to put words in Mike Phillips' mouth, but I'm willing to bet he would have told you the exact same thing as this discussion comes up regularly at the Meguiar's garage.
