  • Newbie just bought my 1st Meguirs supplies - opinion?

Alright guys, after spending the last week reading these forums, I broke down and dropped some cash on my first Meguiar's products.
My wife said, "how much did you spend on car products?!"
I'm betting that once I fix all the swirls on her car and give it a nice mirror finish, she'll be fine.

Anyways here's what I got. Let me know what you think & if I missed anything, or if I got something that you don't think I need.
    Thanks.

    -NXT Car Wash
    -Smooth Surface Clay Kit
    -Deep Crystal Paint Cleaner
    -Scratch X
    -Deep Crystal Polish
    -NXT Tech Wax (liquid)
    -NXT Spray Wax
    -NXT Tech Protect
-Gold Class Rich Leather cleaner/conditioner spray
    -PlastX
-Quick Detailer (came w/ clay kit)
-4 High Tech app. pads (I think I'll buy two more)
    -2 Even Coat app. pads
    -2 Ultra Plush Terrys
-2 MicroFiber Towels (one came w/ the clay kit)
    -1 Water Magnet towel

    I'm planning on getting:
    -NXT All Metal Polysh
-glass cleaner, probably NXT but up for suggestions
-a wash mitt - any suggestions between the microfiber or the ultra plush?
-2 more high tech app. pads
    -4 more MF towels
-I gotta figure out what type of wheels I have before I guy my wheel cleaner
-I need a tire shine product, any suggestions?
-do I need a tire brush?

    Thanks for any input.

BTW, I feel like I just joined a fraternity of sorts.

Welcome. The painfull initiation will be coming soon.

Products seem good.. remember to use 2 buckets to wash, and either refill or use a third for wheels. Get a couple GristGuards as well, probably will have to order those online.

I like to use the Multi-Piece wheel cleaner, very safe, good for everything I believe. I also use it on my mufflers/tips. Definately need a wheel spoke brush, wheel face brush, and a soft tooth brush.

As far as tires, I just clean them with All Purpse Cleaner and a toothbrush.

I like the Insane Shine Tire Spray.

Always need more Supreme Shines and Water Magnets. At least 3 Water Magnets.

Really this looks like a good start on things.

Glass Cleaner -NXT Generation Glass Cleaner all the way! Great product and I wouldn't suggest anything else.

Tire Shine - If you are looking locally, Hot Shine High Gloss Tire Spray (Trigger) or Gold Class Endurance another very good option but more difficult to find product would be All Season Dressing

Microfibers - Yes, yes and yes, you can never have enough microfibers!

High Tech Applicators - Same as above Microfibers, you can never have enough!

Wheel Cleaners - Meguiars has a great selection on the market but for me good old car wash soap and water work best, just my opinion.

Tire Brush - Do you need one.... yes and no, if you get your tires very dirty with mud they are very handy. I have one and use it about every other wash to remove the build up of tire dressing. Its not a must but they can be handy, they can be very universal for floor mats or fender wells and so on.

I might suggest another Water Magnet I like to have a couple at hand should I drop one on the ground in the middle of a wash then I have a back up.

Now once you get all this going a PC will be next on your list!

Thanks guys for the help & the suggestions.

Which wash mitt do you prefer...I know it's just personal pref, but I'd like to hear your opinions.

"remember to use 2 buckets to wash"
        I'm guessing I have the 1st bucket w/ soap & the 2nd w/ water?
and the 2nd is for rinsing out my wash mitt?
Let me know how you use the two buckets together.

        Thanks again for the help.
It's weird, but I'm looking forward to detailing my & my wife's cars.
Guess that means I got the bug huh?

Keep in mind it is 2 buckets for washing car. Either empty and refill for wheels, or use a third for wheels.

But for the car, soapy water in one bucket, plain water in the other. So dip mit in soapy water, wash a section, then rinse mit in rinse water. Then put back in soap, and repeat.

I have used the chenille pads.

              Murr,
Thanks for the help. That's what I was thinking, but wasn't positive.

Anyone else have any comments about my supply list?
              Anything else I'm missing?

If you're unsure of what your wheels are made of or coated with you can always use our new Multi-Piece Wheel Cleaner
