  • question about paint

This morning as we were leaving for school my bro left the trunk open on my mom's "05" outback sport. He also hit the button for the garage to open and as it was opening the trunk was still OPEN! Now we have this little DEEP scratch WITH MISSING PAINT DOWN TO THE BASECOAT WHITE and a very faint ding. We were in Big Lots and I saw some dent filler. I thought in order to repair it I could buy the dent filler and let it dry then sand it down to match the level of the paint. I was then going to buy the touch up paint and apply that and let it dry for about a week then sand that down. I was then going to buff out the sanding scratches out with a g100 so which pad should I use? Back to the paint touch up paint does it have clear coat does it. Anyway is this a good process or not. Any body with some help PLEASE cause we dont want to take the car to a body shop or have to get a new trunk installed. PLEASE SOMEBODY HELP ME!

    Re: question about paint

Doing great touch-up paint work on a rock chip is hard, (something small), doing great looking touch-up work on a long, deep scratch is one of the hardest things to do and for most people impossible. By this we mean, you can apply the filler, add the touch-up paint, but making it look great can be very hard.

Where are you at with this?

    Can you post a picture?
