Just as the title states is it needed? Or can you go to wax if it removed all the imperfections? I always go to 80 anyway just wondering if i really have to or not. Thanks guiys.

It all depends how hard your paint is. In softer paints #83 can leave micro-marring. Actually even #80 can in some REALLY soft ones. But yeah you could always follow with #9 if needed.. anyway uh basically just examine after and see the results and decide for yourself.

Everything in detailing is predicated on a thorough inspection of the paint before and after use of any product, and how any product interacts with the myriad different paint systems available. So, if you polish with M83 and find the finish is to your liking, then there isn't really a "need" to follow with M80 before applying your LSP. If, on the other hand, after using M83 you follow with a test spot using M80 and you see an improvement, then I would think a complete round of M80 is in order.
do you really have to depends if M83 streaked/hazed the finish at all.
it never did when i did it on my MINI so i went wash - clay - m80 - m83 - wax. done.
sometimes you might notice that you have to.
I'm curious about this process TrufflePig: why, if you're going to use both M80 & M83 would you use M83 last as it is the more aggressive of the two and contains less polishing oils? Or was that a typo on your part?
