  • Cleaning corroded Alum wheels-- Help!!

My CTS has got just one area between two-spokes on the wheel hub that has become corroded and polish doesn't even come close to removing it.

There must be something to etch this off with acid or something.

Please, any ideas will sure help.

    Hi:

Can you post a picture of the area?

Do you known what type of finish these wheels have; bare aluminum, clear coat, anodized, etc. ???

What product have you used on them so far?

    Regards,

Looks like chrome. Once its eaten all the way through the chrome i dont think theres any thing you can do, besides re chroming them.

Often times metal shops may be able to refinish it without too much trouble or cost. Worth a shot.

There are places around (like Metro Wheels in Atlanta) that do wheel repair. Fixing things like this should be a simple fix.
