  • New Car Treatment

    Hello Folks,

Taking delivery of a new Honda Civic EX this weekend and wanted to put a good wax job on it first thing.

Is there any special steps to do to a new car as to an older car?

Neat site! I have already picked up a clay kit to try on my Honda Odyssey. Can't wait to try it.

I generally just wash my cars and hit them with Wax as you Dry spray.

This site has opened my eyes to a whole new world in car care.

Just use the same level of care on all your cars. You may want to try the clay on your new car as well. There is no telling what may be on your paint, however the factory is close in Ohio so it hasn't gone far. It all depends on how long its been sitting outside.

Detailed my new Civic Si last weekend. It's 2 months old and the smoothness test (with a plastic baggie) indicated that clay wouldn't be a bad idea. Once I clayed a section of it, I was sold. It won't take you an hour to do the entire car and the wheels too.

Here's the whole story of my first detail.

The best advice i can give you is.....dont let the dealer touch the car...tell them you want it with the plastic on the seats and not washed....Then follow the steps given above...

That's great for a booster between real wax jobs, but you really should do the real wax jobs every so often. Start doing this with a new car, along with the rest of the steps outlined in the links Murr1525 shared with you, and you should be enjoying a beautiful finish for years to come.

Gave the new car a good wash and tried the megs clay with quick detail on the trunk. Clay came up with nothing, I guess this would be expected since the car is new. So it seems kind of pointless to do the whole car. My G100 should be here this weekend and I will give it a polish and wax job.

While you may not see anything in the clay it is pulling junk out of your top coat. To clay such a small car will take you less then an hour and the results are worth the investment. If you want your car to pop, get your finish as clean as you can get it!

I should have mentioned that my clay wasn't very dirty either. Probably picked up more dark coloring on the 4 wheels than the entire car, but I could feel the difference. Let your fingers be the judge. Besides, you've already done the hardest part -- unwrapping the clay.
