  • Good combinations for clear coats

I own a 2005 Toyota Corolla, the color is Silver Streak Mica. I'm pretty sure this is a clear coat. There are a lot of light swirls and a few minor scratches. But here is my plan for the weekend

    Step 1 Wash
    Deep Crystal Car Wash

    Step 2 Clean
    Deep Crystal System Polish

    Step 3 Polish
    COLORx

    Step 4 Protect
    NXT Generation Tech Wax

    Step 5 Maintain
Will take care of this later.

Is this a good combination for my clear coat silver car? Or do you have a better combination?

I'd also like to hear other people's experiences and most importantly the combinations that you use on your cars.

I'd suggest you to clay the car before anything else. this will remove bonded contaminants from the paint and will leave it as smooth as glass.

I'd suggest you too, to use scratchX or DC1 paint cleaner, and then move on to DC2 polish.
NXT is a good wax and this combo should produce very good results.

if you have a G100 (PC), that would make things even better.

    Hope this Helps

You kind of have two different ideas going. Look at it this way for working by hand:

      Full Detail:
      1. Wash
      2. Clay
      3. Clean - ScratchX for swirls, Deep Crystal #1 for regular paint cleaning.
      4. Polish - DC#2
      5. Wax - Nxt Tech Wax - 2 coats is best.

      Quick Detail:
      1. Wash
      2. Clay as needed
      3. ColorX
      4. Nxt Wax

Obviously the quick detail would go faster, but you will tend to get better results using seperate products for each step, like in the full detail. Bit of a trade off, but both will give great results.
