  • Professional Clay lub?

Last detail i used clean soapy water to clay, but i was using the white clay that comes with the kit, after a few details i am beginning to understand when the say that the pre work is the most important part to the detailing, by pre i mean, wash, clay and clean, so i decided to get a C2000 professional mils clay, the question is, can i still use soapy water to lub the paint? i need to know before, cause the clay is around $50 (actually $55) in Costa Rica, and i am doing this as a hobbie, i am not charging my friends more that diet coke and pizza, that's why budget is important.

    Thanks

Meguiars doesnt really recomend soapy water... it can actualy make the clay fall apart in some cases, which might be a concern to you.

They tend to recomend either Quick Detailer, or Last Touch diluted 1:1 with water.

Detailing cars is a form of art. Most appreciate it, few possess the required skill and even fewer understand it.

          Smells good enough to drink!

I have tried soapy water on a couple occasions with both Mothers and Meguiars clays and they did indeed fall apart.

Tell me if this would work:

Buy a C2000 Professional Clay Mild and use Quick Detailer as Lub?

            Thanks for the time

That WILL work. Quik Detailer makes for a great clay lube.
You left out licking the water off. Oh, wait a minute, that's my cat, not my car. Uh, I mean my cat licks himself dry. I don't lick my cat dry. Or my car. -PC.

Any of the QD type pf products will work. Except last touch. It will work but it works better if cut 1:1.

                      Regarding clay falling apart..
How do you "wrap" the clay chunk on the edges? do you fold them in on top?
I have experienced some falling apart when using GC soapwater.
