How often to wash?

The area where I live my car gets pretty dirty. I wondering if it would be safe to wash my car once a week. If so what would be a good car wash to use.

I wash my truck at least once a week sometimes a bit more(5 days after i had washed it) because it has become dirty so fast and there is definitely nothin wrong with that. Use a good car wash(I prefer Gold Class, which can be found very widely.) and keep a good coat of sealant/wax on your car. Dont forget the tires, wheels, and wheel wells!

Once a week is great, there are several car washes in Meguiars line but a couple of the best in the consumer line are Gold Class Car Wash Shampoo & Conditioner -or- NXT Generation Car Wash... Gold Class for more lubricity and an added shine, NXT for the water softeners, in the end both are great and its more personal preference.

i wash once a week at least. if it rains sometimes its more.

the most i did last year was 3 times in one week.

Just chiming in to say I wholeheartedly agree with what others have said. Just make sure you're using a good quality lambswool mitt and that you keep it clean - use the two bucket wash method - so as not to instill a lot of swirls. Use a good microfiber waffleweave towel for drying. Use good washing technique and once a week or more is perfectly fine.

Good tools, materials, and techniques are the key as has been mentioned, but one big DON’T DO is do not use dish washing detergent as that will damage your finish. I know that MOL has a few writeups on how wash your car.

Thanks for all the input. I will be using high quality soaps, MF wash mit and the 2 bucket system.
