You did good with the paint cleaner and polish, but you dont need the cleaner wax. It takes #1, #2, a wax, and puts it all in one step.

I like to do #1 and #2 then top that with NXT. Cleaner wax is good but it doesnt last very long from my experience. Its good for a DD or something though.

Depends on the type of car you drive for the headlights. We have a Jeep with glass headlights and a Jeep with plastic, just depends.
    thx man!

What is with the Turtle Wax chrome polish and sand paper? Those are a little scary....
why the turtle wax scary? (racist against turtle wax?) my dad has chrome rims on one of his trucks, so thats why... plus it was only 3 bucks i think...

Re: Detailing help for a beginner

My only word of caution is with the wheel cleaners, make sure you know what type of wheel your cleaning before spraying the product on. IE Chrome, machined clear coated, polished, painted etc.

      My arsenal includes:
G100-4 8006 pads/2 9006 pads/ 1 7006 pad. I need practice on my G100 and/or something wrong with it. I think operator error and too cold to work the product in, not sure, yet.
A lot of the Meguiars yellow applicator pads/blue microfiber applicator pads (use for spreading #40 and other dressings)
a lot of the Meguiars SS microfiber towels/generic microfiber towels.
recommend some Meg's water magnets and some terry cloths. I bought some generic terry cloths at Costco for my chrome needs or other uses for more bite to work products in. I cut them up as recommended in numerous threads. Just don't wash the cut up ones or you'll need a shovel to get the fuzz out of the washer, I had one sneak in on me while washing.

      Polishes Cleaners:
M80/M83/09/Deep Crystal #1/ScratchX-remember to start least aggresive first (not in order)

      Pure Polish
      Deep Crystal #2/M07

      Waxes:
      M26/M21/NXT/Gold Class/Cleaner Wax/Color X/M16(thanks Kevin)

      Rubber/Vinyl:
      M40/Natural Shine/Quik Interior Detailer

      Wheels/metal
NXT Metal Polysh/Hot Rims Mag-Aluminum polish/Hot Rims All Wheel Cleaner/Hot Rims Multi Piece cleaner

      Car wash:
      NXT/Gold Class/Soft Gel

      Leather:
      Gold Class Leather Cleaner/Conditioner spray

      Detail sprays:
Ultimate Quik Detailer/NXT Speed Detailer/Quik Detailer(for claying and dust control)

      Bugs/tar:
Gold Class bug and tar remover (good stuff)

      Plastic:
      PlastX

      Windows:
Uh.....Eagle One 20/20 (it was on sale and can't find NXT window cleaner.....)

I use caddy's to haul my stuff around and keep my pads in plastic containers and my towels folded in square plastic buckets formerly used here at my work (jail) that had clothes detergent in them, we use a lot of soap and have a ton of buckets now (drives my wife crazy) I also have a Meguiars caddy that came as a kit for my stuff, holds bottles, brushes etc, pretty handy. I have some Meg's brushes and have some on standby in packages still.

Sheesh, I have a lot of stuff now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

better than when I used dish soap, old bath towel to dry, turtle wax, wiped with another old bath towel and in the sun mind you. The dark ages......RUNNING WITH SCISSORS!

Have fun, I do. Remember, patience is the key, work small areas either by hand or machine to get the best results. I get by with that stuff for the moment and do my cars and recently did a Ford Excursion and got paid nicely for my efforts.

I tried getting all meguiars, but as you can see only the majority is. If i didn't get it it's because I couldn't find it, and i went to like 4-5 stores...
sorry for the camera quality, it was dropped in water over the summer...

I think I'll be returning the cleaner wax and quick wax
