I have read that you should use cleaners and conditioners for dashes, door panels, leather seats, etc. that do not contain solvent or petrolium products. These will dry the leather, dash, etc. out and cause cracking. What is best to use for dashes, doors, etc.?

Re: Cleaner/Conditioners For Dash and Interior
I use Meg's Gold Class leather cleaner/conditioner on all the leather of the interior. The interior vinyl gets Meg's Interior detailer after it's been cleaned w/Meg's #40 vinyl cleaner. There are other products in the Meg's line I use on my more challenging units but the above are a good base for almost anything.Death Before Dishonor

Re: Cleaner/Conditioners For Dash and Interior
For the hard interior surfaces on dashes and doors, I would recommend M40. For the leather, I've used various products before. If you're going strictly Meguiars, I would give the leather cleaner and conditioner from the Detailer Line a try. It has pretty good conditioning qualities, though the residual feel is just a touch greasy. Nothing like applying Armor All or anything to it. I've only recently started using the Meguiars version as the previous product I used to use it's locally avaliable anymore. [shipping things in via mail order is too expensive in bulk] So, I've only used it once on dirty leather. I like to preclean dirty leather with a leather cleaner and use the Meguiars Leather cleaner/conditioner as a conditioning step. On clean or new leather it works pretty good. I haven't used the Gold Class version of the Leather Cleaner and Conditioner.

Re: Cleaner/Conditioners For Dash and Interior
You know this like so many other questions, for me, there’s multiple answers because of the number of great Meguiar’s products to choose from. So, I’ll just say this, a lot of times my interior[s] really only needs a wiping down and I usually reach for #40 - Vinyl & Rubber Cleaner/Conditioner or Hyper-Dressing @ 4:1
When I do a more extensive cleaning I’ll use APC+ @ 10:1 on all the hard surfaces and then dress.

Re: Cleaner/Conditioners For Dash and Interior
I am currently holding in my hand a tube of Chap Stick Lip Balm. It is used as a "skin protectant/sunscreen" and "Lip Moisturizer SPF15" as stated on the tube. That same tube lists three "active ingredients", chief among those at 40.7% is White Petrolatum.
So I Googled this particular ingredient and come to find that white petrolatum is a natural petrolatum derived from the purification of petroleum. In a nutshell, it's a petroleum distillate. Meaning that 40.7% of Chap Stick's content is a petroleum distillate.
So what? Well, it sure as heck doesn't dry out my lips. But then again I'm no chemist and I suppose there could be (probably are) some types of petroleum distillate products that would tend to dry things out. My point is simply that just because something has petroleum distillates in it doesn't mean it's automatically bad. People tend to latch onto a word and the poor word carries this stigma with it forever.
Hey, if you get bitten by a mean dog, does that automatically imply that ALL dogs are mean and you should stay away from them?
Oh yeah, almost forgot...... I use all the same products mentioned by others who have replied to this post.Michael Stoops

Re: Cleaner/Conditioners For Dash and Interior
Not trying to diss Meguiars but IMHO, the best leather cleaner and conditioner is Mother's FX Leather Cleaner.
I use Meguiars for all my other car care work except the leather cleaner. I used to use the GC Leather Cleaner and COnditioner, I'm sure is provides the moisturizing part quite well but it's just that i isn't very good at removing the soot, dirt etc from the leather.
I use leather cleaner not only for my car seats but also my motorcycle protective apparel (leather jackets, gloves and full suits)
With Mother's FX Leather cleaner, the soot, dirt, smuges etc just comes off with just a rub wipes, not like the Mequiars where it would just smeer the stain.
Just my 2 cents.
