  • Wheel Polish

What is a good wheel polish to use on clearcoated, painted alloy wheels? I like to polish my wheels after I clean them and I'm wondering what people use.

Treat it like paint. Use a paint cleaner, paint polish, and wax.

ScratchX does wonders on the occasional little scuff, but M80 or ColorX by hand do a great job overall. Don't forget to clay before polishing if needed, and apply your favorite wax or sealant as a final step. Keep in mind though that any wheel cleaner you might use in the future will most likely strip that wax right off.

Just to be clear... for your wheels you want to use a product designed for paint like the previous 3 posters have indicated.

If you use an aluminum wheel polish like Meg's Hot Rims Mag & Aluminum polish, it could remove the clear coat & paint on your wheels since it's designed for non-coated wheels & metals. It works awesome on the polished aluminum Boyd's on my old Galaxie and old-school Offy finned aluminum valve cover on the pickup, but would mess up the OE clearcoated alloy wheels on my wife's Infiniti G35.

Agree here as well, but to add I believe NXT All Metal Polysh is clearcoat safe, just in case.
