  • Post-Detail pad cleaning

---Seach function doesn't seem to work to hot, I know I've seen this topic around before!

I just finished my first detail, what should I do to keep the pads clean? Its been a few days since, and I've kept them in bags. I cleaned them in the "on the fly" fashon, but thats it.

Soaking them in hot water with dawn seems to work pretty good. You have to squish them a bunch of times to help get the wax/polish out. Sometimes I use APC to clean them too, and sometimes dawn power dissolver. All work good for me.

I use regular Dawn liquid. I don't soak the pad first because I'm afraid of separating the backing. I just put a small squirt of Dawn on the face of the pad and use my thumbs to squish out the product under running warm water. Once clean I rinse under the running water, still squishing a bit with my thumbs. I then throw them in the washer on SPIN ONLY to dry them out a bit, then place them face down on a coated wire rack. Works like a charm.
Except my wife makes me wipe the washer tub down after with a terry and Mr. Clean.

I just clean mine by hand with dawn in the sink/tub. I usually dont clean the pad if I waxed with it. Just get all the extra wax out of the pad with a towel then store it in a open bag. If you close the bag it will mold.

If I polish with #80 or the alike then I usually clean them afterwards.
