  • New "contaminant" on my car!

Found a new contaminant on my car today...

I came out to discover that there were tons of spiderwebs across the car, all in pretty much straight lines, and not only on the paint, but on the glass as well.

I ran my finger across the glass in an inconspicuous area and discovered that it wiped off - it turns out that the spiderweb effect really WAS spiderweb, aka gossamer. I tried to wipe it off of the window, but it just kind of made a gunky mess, so I opted to just wait and hose/clay the car tomorrow on my day off, just to make sure I'm not instilling any more scratches in the paint than what's there.

Anyone else come across this? I would think with it being spring time and all the bugs in the air (and therefore spiders) that this would be a common occurrence.

I get the "honeydew" drops all over everything now because of those little aphids. I love spring!

Your next door neighbor isn't Peter Parker by any chance, is he?

I'll tell ya, I'm beginning to wonder! No, where I live, we usually have tons of wolf spiders that show up for about 3-4 weeks, and then they mysteriously vanish. I haven't seen any yet this year, but with all of the gossamer that was on my car today, I'd say we're in for a rather large population. Oh well, the plus side is that we're probably not going to have a large mosquito population! Now, if I can just remember not to panic when I see the gossamer on my car and think it's a large scratch, I should be ok.
