  • How To Remove Melted Crayons?

As the topic says, does anyone have a suggestion for melted crayon removal on a fabric seat? Search didn't come up with any answers and the same search on another forum came up with one response.
That was; place a paper towel over the crayon and heat it with an iron to get the crayon to stick to the paper towel. And repeat until it is gone.
I get the feeling that doing that will just melt the crayon deeper into the seat.
I do have a Bissel hot cleaning machine with a hand attatchment if anyone thinks that might work.

    HI,

thats a tough job you've got there...
actually, i would recommend doing the opposite, try to cool the wax down so that it gets really hard, then with a stiff brush, try and scrub some of it out. if the wax is cold enough, it should come off in little crumbs.

since they are cloth seats, you could try something flat to scrape on the crayon with first, maybe like a putty knife, but nothin with a sharp blade on it.

after you get most of it off, i would suggest using that hot cleaning machine to try and get the deep down stuff out.

    hope this helps a little.

      Crayon

Actually, I have used the hot iron on top of a terry cotton towel with much success. The hot iron draws the crayon up into the towel. Give it a shot.

I've delt with crayone a little bit before. Heat is the trick it seems. I have used a blow dryer to remelt crayon in a door handle then soaked it up with an old towel. If that doesn't work I can't guarantee this next method won't bleach that section of fabric, but you can get a can of professional strength goof off from Home Depot. This will break down all kinds of stuff including gum and crayons. It's a toss up whether it will discolor the fabric, but if nothing else works it might. I've used it before without doing too much damage, but you'll want to try it in a hidden area first.

BTW, use in a well ventillated area, it's a strong solvent.
